We offer four classes:
Foundation: Building Blocks for Agility
Dogs entering this class will be introduced to skills essential for agility—focus, self-control, drive and motivation. Handlers will learn and develop proficiency in positive training methods that are needed to develop these skills in their dogs, such as the principles of operant conditioning (also known as positive reinforcement), training with and without a clicker, shaping, targeting, effective use of food and toys, and other valuable techniques that create not just a great agility dog, but a wonderful pet and companion. We will use games to create fabulous recalls, enthusiasm for working, and a dog that thoroughly enjoys agility and learning. Our individualized group approach allows dogs and handlers to progress at their own rate.
This class is valuable for dogs with no previous exposure to agility and dogs that may have trouble focusing, and are either over-stimulated by other dogs, people and agility training, or are overwhelmed by the setting and perform slowly, reluctantly or shut down in a training environment.
Dogs with aggression or barking issues must be evaluated by us prior to registering.
This class will introduce concepts and methods for training basic obstacle performance skills and through the continuous enrollment format of this class, enable teams to build sound skills, confidence and enthusiasm for obstacle performance. Skills covered include contact behaviors, jumping basics, weave poles, teeter, dog-walk, A-frame, chute, tire, tunnel, flatwork and introductory handling skills. Because of the scope of the skills covered in this class, it is expected that dogs and handlers will enroll for several sessions as teams progress at different rates.
Short sequences, front and rear crosses, drills, weave pole skill building, contact progression, distance work.
Training drills to increase and build your teamwork, timing and skills.
